You May Have To Have To Buy Brand New Headphones If You Get The iPhone 7

As it’s the new year the countdown has already begun for the new iPhone - but in 2016 it may cost you more than ever.

Apple’s smartphone release is a yearly tradition now, and the iPhone 7 is expected to be announced and launched in September this year.

But as well as the no-doubt hefty price tag, you will probably have to fork out on a brand new set of earphones as well.

You see, Apple are reportedly NOT going to include a headphone port on the device in at attempt to make it slimmer and allow it to have a bigger screen.

That means that the only way to listen to music through the device is either through the Lightning connector or via Bluetooth headphones.

So if you have shelled out on an expensive pair or got some for Christmas, they are likely to be out of date by the time this year is up.

The only option would be to buy a new pair specifically for the iPhone 7 or to buy an adaptor - either way, Apple will be getting even more of your cash.

It’s fair to say the reported plans have not gone down well - even with fans of Apple.

A petition has been set up in an attempt to force the tech giant to think again about removing the socket.

Arguing that Apple is “about to rip off every one of its customers”, the petition is seeking 200,000 signatures.

It reads: “If the rumours are true, the new iPhone 7 will have a non-standard, proprietary headphone jack –making every pair of headphones on earth useless.

“Not only will this force iPhone users to dole out additional cash to replace their hi-fi headphones, it will singlehandedly create mountains of electronic waste - that likely won’t get recycled.”

More than 167,000 people have so far signed the petition.
