Protesters Set Fire to Metro Station During Farmers' Demonstration in Brussels

Protesters set the Maelbeek metro station on fire during a demonstration in Brussels, Belgium, on Tuesday, March 26, according to local reports.

Footage captured by Marc Tilley shows people throwing hay and signs at the blaze, situated in an entrance to the Maelbeek metro station.

The station was reopened a few hours later, according to the Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company.

Tilley said this was “the most aggressive demonstration I’ve seen since the 2020 #covid riots.”

Two officers were injured in clashes with protesters, the Brussels Times reported.
