Protests at Paris Airport Amid General Strike in France
Striking workers and their supporters demonstrated at Paris’s Charles de Gaulle Airport as a general strike on March 23 brought hundreds of thousands onto the streets of towns and cities across France.
The airport tweeted, “Demonstration in progress at Paris-CDG: road access around terminal 1 is currently disrupted.”
A general strike was called for Thursday, March 23, in response to the government’s forcing through of unpopular pension and retirement reforms without a parliamentary vote.
France’s Directorate General for Civil Aviation said some flight disruption was expected at several airports on March 23, including Paris-Orly, Bordeaux, Toulouse and Lyon. Credit: CFDT 93 via Storyful
