Pub near Coventry offering 'fresh seasonal food' aims to be the 'favourite local'

Finally, the warm weather is here with the sun shining bright in the sky, and what better way to start the weekend than a trip to the pub? Enjoy the hotter days by enjoying a crisp pint and a delicious meal at The Almanack in the heart of Kenilworth.

The Almanack is a large, modern British gastropub with a central brick bar on Kenilworth high street. Many describe the establishment as offering 'excellent quality food' within 'pleasant surroundings', with bosses saying they aim to be Kenilworth's 'favourite local'.

The pub serves high-quality fresh seasonal food, alongside beers, wines and spirits at 'pub prices'. The Almanack is open all day, seven days a week serving breakfast, coffee and cake, lunch, drinks and dinner for customers.

Bosses at The Alamanack say they serve' the good stuff' with all the meat British and of the highest quality from Aubrey Allen. The steaks are from Britain's finest beef herds, 28-day dry-aged for 'stupendous flavour'. They also use Cotswold white chicken which is free-range, as are the eggs, pork and ice cream. The lamb is Cornish and the fish is native 'where possible' as they follow the 'ever-changing advice' on sustainability.

Newly appointed head chef Callan is responsible for the seasonal menu (currently the new summer menu was launched) and a range of tasty daily specials (check out the blackboards around the pub). The pub prides itself on celebrating the vibrant British food culture, focusing on seasonal ingredients, meaning the team buy the best stuff when it's at an ideal price.

As well as serving the full a la carte menu for lunch and dinner, the pub also serves hot fresh food throughout the day from eggs and fresh sourdough bread for breakfast to cakes, sandwiches and light hot dishes. The pub doesn't offer a kid's menu as they think children should have the opportunity to eat food 'as good as the adults' but the team are happy to make smaller or simplified versions of what's on the menu.

In terms of drinks, The Almanack have ales on tap from Greene King IPA to beers from locals Purity Brewery, plus continental beers and lagers including Peroni and Estrella. For spirits, Tanqueray London Dry Gin and Ketel One Vodka are the 'current favourites'.
