Residents were left wondering after a Kings Langley pub shut unexpectedly due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

The Old Palace in Langley Hill was closed all of last week but reopened on Saturday, June 29.

A notice was posted on the door which read: “Due to unforeseen circumstances we have to close for now. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

One resident reported it was not open when they tried to visit last Sunday, June 23,

The pub has been undergoing refurbishments to its exterior and posted on June 14 that its new signage and outside lighting were due to be completed last week.

One Kings Langley local said “hopefully everything is ok on their end as it seemed quite sudden”, while another expressed their frustration, adding: “I want to take a few people up there for the Sunday roast, but can’t get any sort of reply after leaving a message on answer phone for the last two days.”
