Manchester United will look to strengthen their position in sixth place when they face Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

Erik ten Hag's side came back to defeat Sheffield United 4-2 last time out, with Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes x2 and Rasmus Hojlund all on the scoresheet. The victory moved them into sixth following Newcastle's defeat at Crystal Palace.

A sixth-place finish will guarantee Europa League football if Manchester City win the FA Cup. If United win the FA Cup and don't finish sixth, it will be a Europa Conference League place. Burnley meanwhile, are battling relegation, having recently returned to winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Sheffield United.

Ahead of the clash, pundits Chris Sutton and Paul Merson have predicted Ten Hag's side to claim their second successive league win.

"Manchester United never seem to make things easy for themselves, as they showed again in midweek," Sutton wrote in his BBC Sport column. "The one time I predict them to win a game, against bottom side Sheffield United, they ended up going behind twice before turning it around.

"Burnley have given themselves a chance of staying up and, if you look at their recent performances, they have been pretty consistent. The Clarets' results have improved too - they have only lost one of their past seven games, and would have picked up more than 10 points if not for some costly goalkeeper errors.

"So, they will be up for this one, and they already gave United a close game at Turf Moor earlier in the season, when they lost out to a brilliant Bruno Fernandes volley. I don't always agree with Fernandes' antics, but he is such an important player for Erik ten Hag's side. After rescuing them against the Blades on Wednesday, he will probably help them get over the line in this game too."

Sutton's prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Burnley.

Meanwhile, Merson told Sports Keeda: "I don't like predicting Manchester United as they are a bag of revels. Burnley will cause them major problems and will definitely score a goal, but they aren't tight enough defensively to get a result at Old Trafford.

"Marcus Rashford is really struggling and I think this is the first time in his career where the chips are completely against him. He can so easily ask for a transfer, but I think he will play through it and try to get his confidence back."

Merson's prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Burnley.
