It will be a ‘tough ask’ for Nottingham Forest to secure their safety in the Premier League this evening against a Chelsea side still desperately pushing for European football this season. That is the claim made by BBC Football Focus pundit Rachel Brown-Finnis who says that while Forest’s fate remains firmly in their hands with two games to go, they face a Blues side that has hit a bit of late season form to make the Reds’ survival task all the more difficult.

All Forest eyes will be on Luton and Burnley’s games at West Ham and Tottenham, respectively, this afternoon, knowing that if the Clarets fail to win they will be down, and if the Hatters lose they will also be facing the drop. The fate of the Reds remains in their hands with two games to go, starting with the late kick-off at the City Ground.

But Brown-Finnis warned: “Chelsea have got Cole Palmer back available, because they had a little stutter when he was out, and they seem to be finding their form, albeit with just a couple of matches left this season.

“But he has been their ‘go-to’ player and Chelsea still have something to play for, still pushing for Europe, so it’s going to be a tough ask (for Forest) and I fancy Chelsea to go there and get something. The City Ground has always been hard to play at – Liverpool found it difficult and top teams have found it difficult to go there – but Chelsea, in current form, I feel can take Nottingham Forest.”

Asked if he thinks the relegation battle could come down to the final day next weekend, fellow studio pundit Glenn Murray said: “This is what it’s all about, it’s the second to last weekend and it’s all alive in terms of relegation places and European places and the Premier League title.”
