Yahoo News Pyramide Films Boards Stop-Motion Feature ‘Olivia and the Invisible Earthquake’ About a Family Evicted From Their Home (EXCLUSIVE)
Pyramide Films will handle sales of the stop-motion animated feature film “Olivia and The Invisible Earthquake,” Variety has learned.
Based on Maite Carranza’s children’s novel “The Movie Of Life,” — which has sold more than 24,000 copies in Spain — the film focuses on 12-year-old Olivia. She sees her life collapse when her family is evicted from their home. With her mother, Ingrid, and her brother, Tim, the family is forced to squat in an empty apartment in a suburban neighborhood.

To protect Tim, Olivia convinces him it’s all just a movie and they are the stars.
Directed by Irene Iborra, the film was produced by Citoplasmas Stop Motion, Cornelius Films and Bígaro Films, teaming up with Vivement Lundi! (France) and Panique! (Belgium).
“Pyramide is thrilled to be associated with this great project to come. We have been looking for an animated film to handle for a long time, and we think ‘Olivia’ is the perfect one for us!” said Eric Lagesse, Pyramide CEO.
Mikel Mas of Cornelius Films added: “It’s an honor that Pyramide chose ‘Olivia and The Invisible Earthquake’ as its first entry in the animation market. We are sure we are in the best hands because of the company’s great experience and because they love Olivia’s story almost as much as we do.”
The film is budgeted at €4.5 million ($4.8 million), and the producers have secured the participation of the following broadcasters: Televisión Española, 3Cat, À Punt, Movistar+, and RTBF.
At the moment, Iborra and her team are shooting in Barcelona. The film is scheduled to be ready for Spanish cinemas by fall 2025, where Filmax will distribute the film locally. KMBO will handle France.
On Wednesday, “Olivia’s” team showcased the WIP version of the film at Annecy.
