The Queen of Blues to bring curtain down on career with Concorde Club date

The Queen of Blues will be signing off from her hugely successful career with a farewell gig in Hampshire.

Elkie Brooks will return to The Concorde Club in Eastleigh for a final time on December 2, she told fans while on stage there at the weekend.

It was her 1977 album Two Days Away that ignited her spectacular career. The album featured her monster hit and signature song Pearl's A Singer.

Soaring up the charts, it gave Elkie her first timeless classic and opened the floodgates for a production line of hits including Fool If You Think It's Over, Lilac Wine, Sunshine After the Rain, Warm and Tender Love, Don't Cry Out Loud and her highest charting hit No More The Fool.

Her 1981 album Pearls was in the charts for 79 continuous weeks and went on to sell over a million copies, making her the biggest selling female album artist in the history of the British pop charts at the time.
