Dave is an American comedian, writer, and director
Dave first dipped his toe in the comedy world way back in 2007, when he set up the Good Neighbour sketch group on YouTube, alongside fellow comedians Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett (another SNL star), and actor Nick Rutherford. They would share skits on the platform, which would rack up millions of views.
He was then hired by Saturday Night Live, a live late night comedy show, in 2013 as a video director, and worked there for at least four seasons. He also earned three Emmy nominations for his writing on the show, in the Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series in 2016, 2017, and 2018.
In 2017, he made his feature-film directorial debut with Brigsby Bear, while in 2019, he directed and executive-produced comedy showMy Favourite Shapes by Julio Torres.
Emma and Dave met on the set of Saturday Night Live
As part of the press tour for La La Land, Emma hosted SNL for the first time in 2016, and it was there that the pair met. Dave was directing the skit 'Well For Boys', which Emma starred in.
They have been dating since 2017, got engaged in 2019, and married in 2020
PEOPLE reported in October 2017 that the pair had been dating for "at least three months", before they were photographed on various different outings and dates in 2018. In April 2019, Emma was photographed with a ring on her fourth finger, sparking engagement rumours, with McCary later confirming the news in December 2019 by sharing a photo on Instagram. It has since been deleted.
Then, despite having to postpone their original wedding from March 2020 due to covid, PEOPLE confirmed that the two got married in September 2020.
They have one daughter
In January 2021, a source revealed they were expecting their first child together, while Emma was photographed with a baby bump laster that month. By March 2021, insiders confirmed they had welcomed a baby girl, who is almost three.

After picking up the award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Musical or Comedy for her role in Poor Things, Emma took the opportunity to thank her husband. ""Dave, I have to start with you really quickly. I love you so much," Emma said, in the rare comment about their relationship. "Thank you for everything."
