Quick-Thinking Police Officer Saves Couple From Burning Home

A quick-thinking police officer rescued a couple from a burning house in Evesham, New Jersey, on Sunday, June 16.

Footage released by the Evesham Township Police Department shows Officer Kevin Long responding to reports of a house fire on Sagemore Drive.

As Long approaches the building, he finds the inside engulfed in smoke.

He is able to locate a woman near the entrance, who tells him she can’t get her husband out.

Long tells the woman to exit the house and goes in search of her husband, eventually locating him near his wheelchair.

He is able to pull the man out, before collapsing on the lawn.

The couple and Long were treated for smoke inhalation, local media reported.

Long was praised for saving the couple’s life.

“That man is very lucky that Kevin was there and was able to make the right decisions,” Scott Freedman, deputy fire chief and fire marshal for Evesham Township, told local media. Credit: Evesham Township Police Department via Storyful
