Rachel Brosnahan is remembering her late aunt, Kate Spade, six years after her death.

On Wednesday, June 5, the 33-year-old actress shared an emotional tribute to the fashion designer on Instagram.

“Sometimes you run out of things to say except I miss you. 6 years without Katy today 💚,” Brosnahan wrote alongside a childhood photo of herself and Spade curled up together on a couch.

Kate Spade (née Katherine Noel Brosnahan) died by suicide at her New York City apartment on June 5, 2018. The designer founded her eponymous brand in 1993 alongside her husband Andy Spade, the brother of actor David Spade. The line became known for its colorful handbags and later expanded into other accessories and clothing. Tapestry, Inc. bought Kate Spade in July 2017 for $2.4 billion.

To pay tribute to her aunt’s legacy, Brosnahan became the face of Spade’s accessories line Frances Valentine in January 2019.

"In the wake of Katy's passing, my family and I were so overwhelmed and encouraged by the love and support we received from those who were touched by Katy's work, many of whom were strangers from around the world," she told PEOPLE at the time.

"When you lose someone you love, you search for boundless ways to keep their memory alive," Brosnahan explained. "This felt like a way to do that through her beautiful creations and an opportunity to share them with all of those who her work meant so much to."

The day after Spade’s passing, Brosnahan shared a video of the late designer smiling and dancing with her husband as a mariachi band played in the background.

“Knowing Katy, this is how she would want to be remembered,” the actress wrote in the caption. “She had a light that words can’t capture but touched everyone she came into contact with. She was exceedingly kind, beautifully sensitive, insanely talented, funny as heck and one of the most generous people I have ever known. She was effervescent.”

She added, “Hug your loved ones extra tight today.”

The Golden Globe winner has continued honoring Spade's memory on the anniversary of her death.

In 2021, three years after her passing, Brosnahan shared a photo of her late aunt in a dazzling silver dress.

"Missing Katy B today and every day," she wrote in the caption.

At the 73rd Annual Tony Awards in June 2019, Brosnahan told PEOPLE on the red carpet that the year since Spade’s death had been difficult.

“I think my family and I, as you can expect, are still grieving very deeply,” the actress said. “We miss her very very much and it’s been a tough year but it’s been really wonderful to have the support of Kate Spade as a company and work with Frances Valentine to help keep her spirit and her work alive.”
