The mystery around one of Britain’s most famous UFO incidents has deepened after claims that RAF radio operators tracked a mysterious object said to have landed in Suffolk in 1980.

In 1980, U.S. Army personnel stationed near Rendlesham in Suffolk saw a strange, metallic triangle which was ‘dripping molten metal’ - and witnessed a light like a ‘huge red eye’.

Speaking this week, retired U.S. Air Force Colonel Charles Halt said he had statements from RAF radio operators saying they tracked an unidentified object prior to his weird encounter.

The 75-year-old, who was deputy commander at the Bentwaters base said he had further statements from U.S soldiers describing the sinister object they encountered.

Unlike most UFO sightings, it was documented in voice recordings from senior American soldiers, who also drew disturbing pictures of the object they saw.

One witness claimed to have telepathically ‘received’ a binary code, which has never been deciphered.

The Ministry of Defence investigated, and concluded that a variety of natural phenomena were convincted.

But the soldiers involved - and UFO fans - have never bought this explanation.
