Rangers hero wants someone to 'sort Callum McGregor out' as he names the perfect man for the job
Former Rangers player and manager Stuart McCall believes Dujon Sterling is the perfect Rangers player to nullify talismanic Celtic captain Callum McGregor.
The Parkhead star was back to his dominant best in the 3-0 win over Hearts and appears to be over the injury blues which have limited his availability since the end of February. And now the Celtic hero – seeking to add to his 20 trophies in green and white – is desperate to extinguish Rangers' title dream with a win on Saturday.
But McCall believes former Chelsea academy star Sterling is the perfect option to rev up the engine room and do battle against the Parkhead leader. Rangers know a win will breathe new life into their title charge but a defeat will all-but secure Celtic their 12th title in the past 13 seasons. Speaking on BBC Sportsound, he said: “If, like people were saying, McGregor was back to his best for Celtic, apparently, and pulling the strings. I’d like to see somebody to go and sort him out and, for me, Sterling can do that. He can go and play and sit on somebody who’s going to try to dictate the tempo of the game. But normally that’s a Cantwell or Lawrence who’s going to sit on a deeper midfielder.”
