A pair whose wedding was due to air on Channel 4's Married At First Sight, but were thwarted by the coronavirus lockdown, have finally become husband and wife four years later. Ally and Paul Todd, who were paired up by the show's producers, were scheduled to tie the knot in March 2020 but the ceremony was cancelled three days prior, when the UK was put into strict lockdown.

However, train driver Paul, 36, pleaded with Channel 4 producers to allow him to contact Ally, knowing only her first name. Their relationship blossomed over Skype conversations, before meeting each other as soon as lockdown restrictions allowed.

And the whirlwind romance reached the next level when medical insurance manager Ally, 39, from Weston-super-Mare, revealed in February 2021 that she and Paul were expecting a baby. Paul proposed during a beach picnic a few months later in June of the same year, and the couple celebrated the birth of baby Penelope on July 3, 2021, at St Michael's Hospital in Bristol. Their baby girl weighed 8lbs 1oz.

To complete the family circle, the couple finally wed last month on June 8 at Brighton Pavilion in a "small, intimate" ceremony with Penelope acting as flower girl - and Married At First Sight experts Paul C Brunson and Gen Gresset were also in attendance, reports Somerset Live.

Ally gushed: "It was better than we expected. It was a really fun wedding. I was just so happy. Paul [MAFS expert] said we were the most organic and genuine match that they have put together. Paul and I were made for each other."

Paul chimed in: "It went very well. We got to chat to [MAFS expert] Paul and his wife. It was so special they made the effort."

Continuing, Ally shared: "It's all been a bit of a whirlwind - meeting, falling in love, getting engaged and falling pregnant - but we are just so happy. Having our little girl, Penelope, has just been the icing on the cake."

For the ceremony, Paul donned the original suit he had chosen for their televised nuptials, while Ally decided on a £100 ASOS dress, explaining why she ditched her original dress: "It didn't fit how it used to. I didn't feel confident in it anymore. It's about feeling confident. It's got little sleeves and is frilly. It matches Penny's."

Their daughter Penelope led the procession down the aisle, followed by bridesmaids and then Ally herself. The bride said: "She loved being with all her family. She loved being a little princess for the day. We just felt so proud of her."

The couple are currently basking in the joy of marriage, and have plans to jet off to Morocco for their honeymoon come September.

Ally concluded: "People say it doesn't feel different, but it does for me. I feel more connected. It's lovely having the same surname. I'm happier that it has worked out this way. We got to plan everything we wanted."
