Loos said she had hoped the affair scandal was behind her until the new Netflix documentary was aired.

The Beckhams always dismissed the claims but opened up on the impact the headlines had on their marriage in the recent documentary - resulting in Loos being trolled on social media.

GMB host Richard Madeley asked Loos how she had explained the reason for the media attention to her sons Magnus, 14 and Liam, 11.

Loos said: "I did tell them about the documentary and I told them about what had been said and how it made Mummy feel."

Kate Garraway asked if they had already known about the affair, Loos said: "Yes they know."

She went on: "I said I feel that it's very unfair because of the way I'm being treated now, and the bullying I'm getting and the trolling. And I want to say something and I'm going to do an interview and there might be some media, and how would you feel about that?

"My youngest son, he's a bit like me, he said, 'Good for you Mummy, yes I would say something too.'

"And my eldest son said, 'I don't really know anything about Beckham Mummy. It's not like it's messy. I mean had it been messy...'

Loos laughed: "Okay you're too young to understand... It's kind of the English messy 20 years ago."

Messy in modern slang can mean embarrassing and sordid.

Loos admitted she would like an apology from Beckham so they can all move on.

She said: "I think him not acknowledging responsibility - he is giving a message that it is okay to behave like this. And my message is you make mistakes, own up to them, say sorry, move on. And that's what I'm teaching my kids. Be honest, be truthful and you can move on with life."

What else did Rebecca Loos say on Good Morning Britain?

Loos claimed she had an affair with the married footballer when she sold an exclusive tell-all interview to now defunct Sunday tabloid The News Of The World in 2004 for a six-figure sum.

She admitted she now regrets that.

She told GMB: "I wish I had done it in a different way. I've always said this. At the time the advice I was given was this is the way to go about it. 20 years ago all the power was in the media, if anything was to happen it was through the newspapers. Nowadays, thank God, the power is with the lawyers and everyone goes legal. I kind of wish I'd taken that route but I can't go back in time."

Loos said it had not been her choice to bring the affair back up - but the Beckhams' by including it in the documentary.

She said: "I would rather not have to talk about this again. I have left this behind me and moved very much on with my life.

"But when this documentary came I tried very hard to just let it go and get on with my life but it really bothered me about the angle they used and how he played the narrative, how misleading it is and how he makes me look like the bad person.

"Of course I am also guilty, but it takes two tango and I never denied it. He said the claims are ludicrous - but ludicrous is not denying it."

The Beckhams have always dismissed the claims but no legal challenge was ever made.

Good Morning Britain airs on ITV from 6am to 9am from Monday to Friday.
