This year sees a record number of local artists and craftspeople across the Lizard Peninsula participating in the Open Studios Cornwall event that starts this weekend.

It takes place over nine days, from Saturday, May 25 to Sunday 2nd June 2, at a variety of venues.

The public are invited to view their creations, see their work in progress, and perhaps make a purchase or two.

There are four studios in the Mawgan and Garras area to visit – Angela Firth and Vanessa Millar will be showcasing their willow baskets and demonstrating their weaving skills at Higher Bojorrow, while Sophie Muir at Gear Mill will be exhibiting watercolour mandalas and t’ai chi inspired line drawings.

Jewell Arts will be hosting Rebecca Jewell’s botanical paintings and Simon Jewell’s Cornwall inspired landscape and seascape oil paintings, alongside Don Taylor’s sculpture, woodwork and serpentine creations and Sharon Aston’s wet plate collodion and digital photography.

Lesley Roberts styles herself as a Cornish eclectic artist and her works will be shown at The Oaks alongside Yvonne Burdekin’s pastel and oil paintings of the Lizard Peninsula.
