The Red Arrows are set to fly over the Surrey border on Saturday (June 15) as part of the King’s Birthday celebrations in a flypast that will span the breadth of London. Various other military aircraft will join the aerobatic display team destined for the skies above Stanwell, Stanwell Moor, and Heathrow Airport after the main event at Buckingham Palace.

Tradition dictates His Majesty’s birthday - though actually in November - will be marked at Horse Guards Parade with Trooping the Colour. This will involve more than 1,500 service men and women and around 300 musicians and dates back to the 1700s, according to the Army.

Airspace restrictions are in place for a route that starts above the North Sea and travels southwest over Essex to London. These will be in place above London and northern areas of Surrey from 12.40pm to 1.25pm. The tail end of the air procession will reach south and east London and northern parts of Surrey where it will disperse.

The Red Arrows are then set to turn north over Berkshire and fly back towards Lincoln where they will begin the day. Residents and fans of the iconic red jets will have the chance to see them in the skies above Surrey in Stanwell and Stanwell Moor or by travelling a short distance north or west towards Windsor and Berkshire.

The Birthday Flypast is expected to pass over Buckingham Palace at 1.06pm and be in the Heathrow area at 1.09pm. Airspace restrictions suggest the aircraft could be as low as 2,500ft. The King’s Birthday Parade will also be broadcast live on the BBC.

The Red Arrows appear to be the only aircraft confirmed for the June 15 flypast but a “large formation” of military aircraft has also been teased. A rehearsal flypast took place on June 3 above East Anglia and Lincolnshire with a C-17 Globemaster, Chinooks, and Typhoons understood to have taken part, according to Military Airshows.
