Reem Kelani brings a harmonious fusion of Arabic music and jazz

Bath Friends of Palestine are offering a rare opportunity to hear the celebrated British-Palestinian singer, broadcaster and musicologist Reem Kelani. With her long-term collaborator Bruno Heinen on piano, Reem has developed a fusion of Arabic music and jazz. In Bath, she will perform a mixture of traditional songs from Palestine and the wider Middle East as well as her own settings of contemporary Palestinian poetry at the Pump Room from 8pm on Sunday, May 19.

Huw Spanner, secretary of Bath Friends of Palestine, said: “We are delighted to be bringing Reem Kelani to Bath – all the more so on the first weekend of the Festival, when the city will be full of music lovers. It’s a particular pleasure to be showcasing Palestinian culture at this time in one of Bath’s most prestigious venues.

“Amidst the darkness that has descended on historic Palestine since October 7 last year, this promises to be a memorable evening of music, poetry and – inevitably – deep emotion.”

Tickets are already selling well, for £25 (students £15) from Bath Box Office and also from Eventbrite at
