Resident Evil 4 Remake dropped a demo yesterday (March 10), and it comes with a secret difficulty mode.
Players have been able to get a taste of Capcom's new version of its survival horror classic, ahead of its upcoming release.
The Chainsaw Demo focuses on the village section of the game. Locals turn on Leon S Kennedy and, if he survives long enough, Chainsaw Man (also known as Dr Salvador) revs up his trusty chainsaw and comes a calling...
It's one of the most iconic moments of the original game, and now it's been made even scarier thanks to the inclusion of a rare ultra difficult mode that can be sprung on you at any point.
'Mad Chainsaw Mode' makes the demo more difficult, both in a general way and thanks to the inclusion of Flaming Chainsaw Man. He's like the normal Chainsaw Man, but his weapon is on fire. And he will probably wreck you.
In order to play through this difficulty you have to be lucky enough to be offered the option when selecting a New Game. If you don't get the offer, reset the game and try again.
Some people are stating that you need to beat the demo normally at least once first, although it's not necessarily the case. It's probably a good idea to play the demo first to get an idea of what you need to do, as things have changed from the original version.
Once you finish this super-hard version, you have to wait to be offered it again. Depending on your luck with the RNG, that could be the very next time.
The Resident Evil 4 remake will be released on March 24 on PC, PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S.
