Residents Clear Mud From Streets After Flooding and Deadly Landslides in Sao Sebastiao

Clean up efforts were underway in the flood-affected town of Sao Sebastiao in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state on Tuesday, February 21.

Footage released by Sao Sebastiao’s mayor Felipe Augusto shows people working to clear mud from streets in the Itatinga area.

At least 40 people were killed in landslides and floods in the region this week, with a further 1,730 people displaced.

Brazil’s National Institute of Meteorology warned of more heavy rains in the Sao Paulo state, with state authorities cautioning current clean up efforts may need to be paused due to risk of new landslides. Credit: Felipe Augusto via Storyful
