Residents escape injury in pair of fires

May 6—VALDOSTA — A pair of fires kept Valdosta's firefighters busy this weekend.

The Valdosta Fire Department headed out to a structure fire at Scott Park first, finding smoke coming from a bathroom facility, a fire department statement said.

Within minutes of that fire call, another fire was reported at an apartment complex in the 1700 block of North Ashley Street. Fire units found heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows of a two-story apartment building, the statement said.

All residents had safely gotten out of the building before firefighters arrived.
