Residents Trapped by Flooding Rescued in Turkey

Soldiers helped evacuate people affected by flooding in Sanliurfa, Turkey, on Wednesday, March 15, according to the Ministry of National Defense.

The ministry said on Wednesday that 113 people had been evacuated so far using a pedestrian bridge that the 20th Armored Brigade Command established in the Eyyubiye district of Sanliurfa. It released footage showing people being evacuated.

Local media citing officials reported at least 13 people died due to flooding in Sanliurfa and Adiyaman provinces.

The Sanliurfa Governorate told locals living on the lower floors of buildings in Sanliurfa to evacuate immediately.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency said on Wednesday that 111 mm of rain had fallen in Sanliurfa over a 24-hour period.
