The Responder star says Kate and Chris season 2 split "made sense"
The Responder star MyAnna Buring has said the split between Kate and Chris in the second series “made sense” from a story standpoint.
The BBC show returned last night (May 5) as the action picked up six months after the events of the first series, which had seen Kate (Buring) and Chris’ relationship come under strain as his work intensified.
The second series began with the revelation that Kate and Chris (Martin Freeman) had decided to split. During an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, the actor revealed that this development was not a surprise to her.

“Come on. We've watched it. Can you imagine living with a guy like Chris? It's a nightmare. As much as we love him and in the story he's our hero. But being in a relationship with him? Holy balls no,” she said.
“I was surprised she stayed that long, so it definitely made sense to me [that they would break up]. But a surprise? Absolutely not. Babe, get out. It's not healthy. He can't help himself. He's a bit of a Debbie Downer at home. As thrilling as he is [in terms of] television, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.”
On Kate's new relationship, Buring added: "And then she's with [Raymond] Mullen. I suppose that was a bit surprising, but it was a great surprise because I love Warren Brown, so it was fab.

“I got to do more scenes with him, which is always fun. I've known him for like 15 years now. It's always great and we tend to only meet up on sets, really. So it's just a really great time to just catch up. It's like a little milestone in our life every time I meet him."
Ahead of the launch of season two, creator Tony Schumacher also spoke with Digital Spy as he detailed his writing process, saying: “I'm a bit mad. I have this thing where I just write all night, like Nosferatu.”
The Responder airs on BBC One on Sundays at 9pm.
