Kids' TV is renowned for its antics, designed to capture the imagination of its young audience.

One programme that left a lasting impression on those who grew up in the early 2000s was Dick and Dom in da Bungalow. Hosted by the dynamic duo Dick and Dom, played by Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood, the show enjoyed a successful run from 2002 to 2006.

Many will recall tuning into this programme on weekend mornings, although the full extent of its madness might have slipped from memory. However, some classic moments have been making the rounds on TikTok, causing quite the stir as it reminds viewers of the controversies sparked at the time.

A TikTok user by the name of @cjfs00s posted a video which brought back how the show was once critiqued on Points of View. The clip features the iconic Terry Wogan reading out complaints from disgruntled parents with his usual wit.

One irate parent described Dick and Dom in da Bungalow as "unspeakably awful" and questioned its place on television. Another, Alison Bishop, expressed shock, stating: "I was appalled last Saturday when I walked into the lounge to find my two young boys watching onions being rubbed into people's eyes on 'Dick and Dom'."

She labelled it "inappropriate behaviour" for children's television. Subsequently, the clip from 2005 was shown, featuring both youngsters and adults picking up onion pieces and seemingly rubbing them into others' eyes.

The presenters on the show promptly cautioned viewers against mimicking the act at home. Television legend Terry then appeared on screen to clarify that during rehearsals, actual onion-rubbing did not occur; they were only "sniffed", as revealed by their "tireless research".

He concluded with a reminder: "Remember adults, it's a children's programme."

As expected, this trip down memory lane has tickled many, leaving them in peals of laughter over the vintage footage. It also sparked nostalgic conversations about the nature of historical children's TV.

One viewer commented appreciatively, "Always knew Terry Wogan was a good guy, bless him."

Another expressed admiration for the humour, remarking: "DADITB was too intelligent. Went over most people's heads. The humour was genius."

A nostalgic third chimed in saying, "I loved Dick and Dom in da Bungalow as a kid. It was the only reason I woke up early on weekends."
