Retro sweets are making a comeback - grab a classical pick & mix for under £12

Retro sweets are making a massive comeback. A study conducted by consumer research firm Perspectus Global revealed that two-thirds of UK residents would pick timeless confectionery over newer snacks any day.

According to the Daily Star, a solid one-third of the 2,000 participants, all aged 16 and above, confessed that munching on sweets whisks them back to the carefree days of their youth. Commenting on the findings, Jonathan Horsley from Perspectus Global remarked: "Sweets are one of life's simple pleasures.

"You can see how they provoke feelings of nostalgia, as childhood classics like Jelly Babies, Fruit Pastilles, Pear Drops and Dolly Mix made the list of best-loved sweets." Ahead of Amazon's big Prime Day extravaganza, the retailer is offering a discounted price on a huge 1kg bag of retro sweets.

The Amazon Classic Retro Candy Selection has more than 20 different sweets including cola bottles, rhubarb & custard, dracula teeth, jelly babies and many more. For just £11.95, down from £12.95, this huge bag of 1kg sweets are packaged in resealable pouches in order to stay fresh.

With over 1,000 purchases just this month, these retro sweets boast a 4.5-star average rating. According to the retailer, customers like the freshness and variety of the sugar candies and they find the selection fun and varied.

One happy shopper said: "Nice large bag of sweets, nice and fresh, good assessment of different sweets." Another added: "Looks great, sweets were in great condition, not stuck together at all. Good variety of sweets. Taste lovely, smell so tasty.

"This bag is a lot of sweets, heavier than expected even after knowing how much they weighed. Well sealed with tear of top then zip lock bag."

A third sweet lover shared: "Value for money, why would you expect chocolate sweets, it clearly states pick&mix, the photo shows you there are no chocolate sweets!!!!!!!" However, someone else mentioned a quality issue and said: "This pouch is packed really tight with tasty jelly sweets so that makes it good value.

"I have now bought these twice but the second one I bought had a few squashed sweets in it so that's why I've deleted one star. Apart from that they are always fresh and tasty though some that were close to the squashed ones did seem quite wet."

Amazon is also offering a Fizzy Classic Retro Pick n Mix Candy Selection for sour lovers, priced at £9.85. Elsewhere, you can buy a massive retro sweet hamper for £29.99 from the Sweet Store.
