RGS Worcester hosts swashbuckling 'Treasure Island' drama production

Audiences enjoyed a swashbuckling voyage at RGS Worcester's latest drama production.

The school's Performing Arts Centre hosted the school's latest show, 'Treasure Island', based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel.

Directed by drama teacher, Jak Garrity, the adaptation was performed by a cast from the lower school (years seven and eight).

The show saw a blend of energy, humour, and drama from the moment the make-believe anchor was lifted.

Stellar performances were seen from many students, including Lilah Morgan and Eva Davies who shared the role of Jim Hawkins and Amy Higgins who played Long John Silver.

Lilah said: "I was so excited to be playing the part of ‘Jim’ and loved working with such an amazing cast.

"We all worked so hard to make it special and we hope you enjoyed the adventure."

James Clarke, as Squire Trelawney, delivered some of the night’s biggest laughs.

Mr Garrity said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed working with our years seven and eight pupils and have been really impressed by their enthusiasm, confidence and positive attitude."

The pupils were not only involved on the stage, but also behind the scenes, creating the production's scenery, music and effects under Mr Garrity and RGS's theatre technician Simon Graeme.

RGS headmaster John Pitt said: "The audience could see how much the cast and crew really enjoyed bringing this adventure to the stage and it is wonderful to see so many Lower School pupils keen to be involved.

"What an amazing production - thank you to the staff and well done to all of the pupils."
