Meredith Marks’ No. 1 tip for a successful marriage is a simple one!

On Saturday, June 15, the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star, 52, had a date night with husband, Seth Marks at the third annual Las Culturistas Culture Awards at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York.

After posing for a photo together — and sharing a kiss — on the red carpet, the reality star chatted with PEOPLE about the secret to her over 27-year-long marriage.

“No. 1 is communication,” Meredith told PEOPLE. “As soon as that goes, everything else follows.”

Marks also said she is “excited to be brought up on stage and get the chance to hopefully win an award” at the Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers-hosted ceremony — and that she did.

Produced by Disco Nap's Lauren Mandel, the 2024 Culture Awards enlisted a slew of celebrities from every corner of culture to celebrate the past year's biggest, silliest and most dramatic moments.

And, along with stars Julia Fox (who took home the Julia Fox award for excellence) and Pedro Pascal (who accepted this year’s daddy award via video), Meredith took home a coveted Culture Award at the June 15 ceremony.

She claimed the best picture (literal picture) award for “Four Women on a Beach,” a still of Meredith, Heather Gay, Whitney Rose and Lisa Barlow in RHOSLC’s dramatic season 4 finale.

Big Little Lies, eat your heart out,” she told the crowd while accepting the honor.

Gay, Rose, Barlow and costar Angie Katsanevas also appeared in video messages to accept another (hilariously named) Culture Award: the Bene Gesserit award for most slay group of women.

Meredith previously opened up to PEOPLE in September 2023 about her and Seth — who share children Reid, Chloe and Brooks — and their decades-long marriage.

Acknowledging the ups and downs the couple has experienced since they wed in 1996 — they briefly separated during RHOSLC’s first season — she said they are “perpetually hanging by a thread, even though I will say our relationship is better than it's ever been.”

“I think all relationships are somewhat perpetually hanging by a thread. But it's interesting working together,” she told PEOPLE. "We spend a huge amount of time together already just because we do travel so much, and a lot of times, he’s working all day from the same space I'm in.”

Close proximity may give the longtime couple “another element” to bicker about, but, Meredith noted, their arguments are usually minor.

“We haven't had that many fights about it, but sometimes it's like, ‘Well, you said you'd handle this,’ ” she explained, adding, “It's irritation. Nothing major.”
