Although he promised to never give you up or let you down, Rick Astley isn't innocent of letting down other people... just ask the team over at Strictly Come Dancing.

The 1980s legend has been chased in the past to appear on the show, but he's told The Mirror that personal doubts over fitness (and maybe the Strictly curse) meant he had to decline.

"I have been asked to go on it, but I wouldn't want to compete on it. I'm not fit enough," he said.

"Greg Rutherford said they practise every hour of the day. I couldn't do it. Not a chance."

He added: "I sang on it and they had a bit of a party after Blackpool, a bit of a shindig with everyone dancing.

"All the professional dancers are amazing and we're there doing dad dancing. One of the dancers said I had moves and should come on the show.

"But I don't think I could do it, if I'm honest. Not really. It takes a lot... and not to mention quite a few people have broken up over it."

Earlier this month, Claudia Winkleman laughed off whispers of a genuine 'curse' on Strictly Come Dancing, which relates to several contestants splitting up with their partners whilst taking part.

"I don't believe in the curse, but I think lots of people have come in single and they might have met somebody or had a little romance," she said.

"It's intoxicating, Strictly, because you're all part of this extraordinary juggernaut. So I don't think people fall in love with people, they might just love the experience."
