Rihanna Takes a Slight Loss on Matthew Perry’s Former L.A. Penthouse

After first hitting the open market a little more than two months ago with a nearly $25 million price tag, Rihanna has officially offloaded her Los Angeles penthouse to an unnamed buyer for a pinch under $20.8 million. And while that’s still a large sum of money by any measure, that amount is around $250,000 less than the Barbadian superstar paid for the place a little over a year ago.

The 36-year-old billionaire purchased the condo for a discounted $21 million in March 2023 from short-term owner Nick Molnar, co-founder of the tech company Afterpay, who originally wanted $28 million. Before that, the residence was owned for roughly four years by the late Friends actor Matthew Perry, who bought the sprawling unit for $20 million in 2017 from Mary Ann Osborn, director of sales at Related, and subsequently gave it an extensive makeover in collaboration with architect Scott Joyce and interior designer LM Pagano.

Other highlights include a lavish soundproof movie theater and a broad entrance galley perfect for showing off artwork or collectibles. There’s also a spacious living room displaying two fireplaces, a formal dining room that seats 25, and a game room/library warmed by a fireplace, as well as a gourmet kitchen outfitted with a duo of marble-topped islands, top-tier Miele, Wolf, and Sub-Zero appliances, a wine refrigerator, and a breakfast nook. An opulent primary suite comes complete with a cozy fireside seating area, dual baths and walk-in closets, and stellar vistas via a semi-circular bank of soaring windows.

Topping it all off are plenty of building amenities, courtesy of a hefty $8,814 monthly HOA charge, which include 24-hour concierge and security guards, four deeded parking spots in an underground garage, a wine cellar, a screening room, access to an outdoor swimming pool and gardens, a gym and fitness studio, a restaurant, conference rooms, and storage facilities.

In addition to her recently sold condo, Rihanna still owns another smaller condo at The Century. But her current main residence remains a $14 million mansion in the mountains above Beverly Hills. Per Forbes, the We Found Love hitmaker is now the world’s richest female musician, with an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion.
