RIP: The Universe Is Dying From Old Age And There’s Nothing We Can Do About It

Good news - the universe is dying a slow death and humans are utterly powerless to stop it from happening.

Scientists and astronomers have discovered that the amount of energy that is being generated by galaxies has HALVED in two billion years.

Using seven of the most powerful telescopes in the world, they came to the conclusion that the universe has entered old age - and is on its way out.

Lead scientist at the Galaxy and Mass Assembly (GAMA), Professor Simon Driver, revealed: “The universe is fated to decline from here on in, like an old age that lasts forever.

“It has basically plonked itself on the sofa, pulled up a blanket and is about to nod off for an eternal doze.”

Explaining that less energy will be created from mass as the years roll on, Professor Driver added: “While most of the energy sloshing around was created in the aftermath of the Big Bang, additional energy is constantly being released by stars as they fuse elements like hydrogen and helium together.

"This newly released energy is either absorbed by dust as it travels through the host galaxy, or escapes into intergalactic space and travels until it hits something such as another star, planet, or very occasionally a telescope mirror.”

The end result of the universe is fairly bleak - with no energy left, it will simply turn into a “cold, dark place”.

Happy Tuesday.
