Rishi Sunak visits Cotswold Distillery as Prime Minister hits the campaign trail in Warwickshire

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak hit the campaign trail in Warwickshire today (Monday, July 1) as the run-up to the 2024 General Election entered its final week. Mr Sunak visited the Cotswold Distillery in Shipston-on-Stour in South Warwickshire this afternoon. The area falls within the Stratford constituency.

“Mmmm, rich,” he said, as he sniffed the distillery’s single malt whisky.

The Prime Minister, who is teetotal, was joined by the company’s founder Daniel Szor and its chief executive Jeremy Parsons, as well as Tory candidate for Stratford upon Avon, Chris Clarkson, who was until recently an MP in Greater Manchester.

Mr Sunak toured the site, where he was shown the copper stills, as well as a storeroom full of whisky casks.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited Well Healthcare Supplies, a manufacturer in Stoke-on-Trent, where he held a Q&A with staff and toured the site.

He also tried his hand at sorting boxes of pills on a conveyor belt, but his efforts were hampered when an automatic sensor was triggered by the close presence of the media, making the machinery stop.

Long-serving Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi announced earlier in the year that he would be standing down at the forthcoming election.
