The romantic comedy-drama, first broadcast on Channel 4 back in 2014, has become a cult hit across the pond and has landed its stars roles in big budget shows.
Thomas is currently starring opposite Freddie Highmore in The Good Doctor, while Ings has just finished filming the first season of CBS drama, Instinct.
Lead actor Johnny Flynn starred opposite Geoffrey Rush in last year’s Genius.
Lovesick is the sweetly-comic story of a man who attempts to contact all of his former girlfriends after finding out that he has an STI.
“It’s a clever one because initially you might think it’s going to be a really tasteless comedy and actually it’s not that at all. It’s just a really nice device to be able to jump back over the years and explain how they became friends and how their relationships and romances broke down,” said Thomas.
“I think it’s such a universal story, about friendship love and relationships. It’s just so relatable.”
She added: “It’s hard to find good writing for women, it’s a rare thing.
“You have to draw from your own experience and you learn about someone else’s experiences and a new way of being, especially when you love playing a role.”
“I’m filming a series on CBS called Instinct that comes out in March,” Ings told the Standard.
“it’s kind of a cop procedural thriller, playing an American, but the thing that drew to me to that is that I play the husband of the main character who is played by Alan Cumming.
“I was just so fascinated by the relationship between these two characters and it was wonderful to see a really mainstream, primetime network show that was brave enough to have a gay lead character and that not be the defining feature of that character. I don’t think it’s really been done in a drama. “
Season 3 on Lovesick is on Netflix now.
