Rita Simons reckons that the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here might get itself a new famous viewer once she hits the jungle camp.

The EastEnders actress is the niece of none other than Lord Sugar.

Simons was confirmed for the ITV show last night, but said that she’s yet to reveal her plans to the Apprentice host.

“We’ve had to keep coming into the jungle a secret and so, no, I haven’t told my uncle yet,” she said.

“But I bet you he will watch it!”

Simons played Roxy Mitchell in EastEnders from 2007 to 2017, after which she and sister Ronnie, played by Samantha Womack, were sensationally killed off.

She joins another former EastEnder Larry Lamb in heading off to Australia for the ITV show.

“Larry is like my dad and he is always advising me,” she added. “He said he couldn’t advise me more to do it as he had the best time ever.”

Simons joins fellow contestants John Barrowmanm, Harry Redknapp, The Chase star Anne Hegerty, Coronation Street actress Sair Khan, DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles, James McVey from pop band The Vamps, former X Factor contestant Fleur East, Inbetweeners actress Emily Atack and Malique Thompson-Dwyer from Hollyoaks.

It starts on November 18, on ITV.
