RNLI marks 200th anniversary with a special concert

THE 200th anniversary of the RNLI was marked with a special concert.

The Salisbury, Wilton and District branch hosted the event at St. Mary and St. Nicholas Church, Wilton, on Friday, June 21.

The evening of thanksgiving, celebration and inspiration in music, song and verse marked the 200th anniversary of the vision of Sir William Hilary to create a voluntary lifeboat service for the British Isles.

The concert was performed in front of a sell out audience. Kate Edgar directed the Sea Shanty Choirs, The Navy Larks and All at Sea. The organist was Robert Richards. The event was organised by branch chairman Ray Stedman and his team.

Special guests included Dr Phil Harding, representing HM Lord Lieutenant for Wiltshire, the Mayor of Wilton Alan Crossley Sebastian and Charlotte Salt, the event sponsors, and a crew from the Mudeford Lifeboat.
