Road to be closed for some time after man dies in horror crash

A man has died after a crash on Whalley Road in Clitheroe.

Police were called at 2.45pm today (June 14) to reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

A man died at the scene and police are trying to identify the man and his loved ones.

The road, from the junction of the A59 and the junction of Primrose Road, is expected to be closed for some time.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on Whalley Road from the junction with the A59 up to the junction with Primrose Road

“The road is closed due to a road traffic collision and we anticipate this will be closed for some time.

“We’ll provide an update once cleared and thank you in advance for your patience.

“We were called to Whalley Road, Clitheroe, to a report of a collision between a car and a pedestrian at around 2.45pm today (June 14.)

“Very sadly, a man died at the scene. Efforts are ongoing to identify the man and inform his loved ones.”
