Road plagued by closures to shut again as motorists warned of ‘carnage’
A business is warning of "carnage" when roadworks shut a busy stretch for two weeks.
Motorists are bracing for another closure of Allington Lane.
From January 22 to February 7, the road will be closed between May Close and Clementine Way towards Fair Oak for Southern Water works to take place.
The decision has sparked outrage among residents and businesses owners.
The owners of Allington Lane Nursery and Garden Centre warned of the closure on their Facebook page.
As reported, owner Steve Goodridge said the centre was up against it and might not survive when Storm Conall flooded it in November.

A post from the centre on Facebook said: “You won’t be able to get to us via Fair Oak end of Allington Lane, you’ll only be able to get to us via the West End side.
“Not only does this cause more issues for us but local residents and other businesses too.
“Why can’t Eastleigh Borough Council, Hampshire Highways, and Southern Water think and plan these jobs properly?
“This could have been done back in late November when they closed the road for other works.
“This is going to cause carnage for the whole area for two weeks.”
The closure will be in force for 24 hours a day and is in place for Southern Water to undertake water main installation work.
An alternative route is available through Fair Oak Road, Eastleigh Road, Botley Road, Bubb Lane, Tollbar Way, Botley Road, High Street, and Swaythling Road.
