Roads Closed in Southern Washington Due to Snow and Poor Visibility

A highway in southern Washington state was closed in both directions on February 22, as strong winds and snow brought poor visibility to the area, local authorities said.

State Route 241 was closed seven miles north of Sunnyside, Washington State Patrol Public Information Officer Trooper C. Thorson said, with semi-trucks off the roadway. Footage released by Thorson shows poor driving conditions and blowing snow.

The National Weather Service said “very cold temperatures” would hit the region through Friday night, with breezy winds causing wind chills as low as minus 5 in the Washington Columbia Basin. Credit: Trooper C. Thorson via Storyful
