Robbie Williams’ upcoming biopic Better Man is set to start filming in Melbourne, Australia next year.

“There is a creative energy that burns across the Melbourne film industry, and I know this movie will thrive here.”

While Williams, 47, added: "I'm so excited I am making this movie in Victoria with my friend Michael Gracey.”

It’s said the film is set to create around 2,200 local jobs and will also require 2,700 extras.

The biopic can be expected to portray Williams’ successes in the music industry as well as the darker parts of his life.

After rising to fame in boy band Take That, Williams struggled with much-publicised addiction issues.

He has repeatedly reflected on his drug abuse in interviews and last year revealed that using narcotics had left him reliant on an autocue while performing his songs on stage.

Gracey, who also directed The Greatest Showman, previously teased they would be making the film in a “really original way”.
