Robbie Williams biopic 'exploring his demons' in the works from 'Greatest Showman' director

A Robbie Williams biopic is reportedly in the works from the director of The Greatest Showman.

'Better Man' is a coming-of-age story portraying an account of the Take That's star life and career and will feature his hit songs, according to Deadline.

Director Michael Gracey has said the movie will explore the 47-year-old star's demons after he spent hours talking with the star.

He told the outlet: “As for how we represent Robbie in the film, that bit is top secret.

"I want to do this in a really original way. I remember going to the cinema as a kid and there were films that blew me away and made me say as I sat there in the cinema, ‘I’ve never seen this before.’ I just want the audience to have that feeling.”

The Australian went on: “All I can say is the approach is top secret, but the goal is to generate that feeling I just described. It’s this fantastical story, and I want to represent it in its harsh reality all the way to these moments of pure fantasy.”

Williams rose to stardom with Take That before embarking on a successful solo career after leaving the band in 1995.

The film will focus on Williams being an "everyman" according to Gracey.

In the past, Williams has openly discussed the struggles with addiction he faced at the height of his fame. He was treated for a drink and drug addiction after leaving Take That in the 90s and did a three week stint in rehab in 2007.

He's also discussed his battle with agoraphobia that left him struggling to leave his house between 2006 and 2009.

The Angel singer married wife Ayda Field in 2010 and the pair share four children.
