Robots Will Commit More Crimes Than Humans By 2040, Expert Warns

Imagine being mugged by The Terminator - or trying to stop a terror attack where people are mown down by self-driving cars.

That’s the grim prospect predicted by futurologist Tracey Follows - who says that robots might soon be ‘hacked’ to be used as remote-control criminals.

She predicts that in just over two decades’ time, the majority of crime might be committed by robots.

Previously, Russian experts at Cognitive Technologies have warned that self-driving cars could be used as murder weapons - and may trigger a crime wave.

Ms Follows said, ‘Futurists have been forecasting a sharp rise in lone-wolf terror attacks for years. But once robots can be hacked to become suicide-bombing machines, lone-robot attacks could become rife too.’

‘My forecast would be that by 2040 more crime will be committed by machines than by humans.’
