Rockers Ocean Colour Scene to headline music festival in Castle Park next week

Indie-rock band Ocean Colour Scene will headline the first Summer Sundays concert in Colchester Castle Park.

Tickets are available now to see the Birmingham stars at the event on Sunday July 14 alongside fellow indie acts including Embrace, Ash and Cast.

Ocean Colour Scene was formed in 1989 by frontman Simon Fowler, guitarist Steve Cradock and drummer Oscar Harrison.

The band has had three top 5 albums with 1996’s Moseley Shoals, 1997’s Marchin’ Already and 1999’s One From The Modern.

They have also achieved 17 top 40 singles, including an impressive run of nine consecutive top 20 hits.

Ocean Colour Scene is set to perform songs including The Circle, The Riverboat Song and Traveller’s Tune.

They will be joined by rock band Embrace which has seen eight top 10 albums, three of which reached Number 1, and six Top 10 singles including Gravity and Ashes.

Also on the bill is Northern Irish rock band Ash who headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 1997.

Ash have released four top 10 albums including 1996’s 1977 which featured the single Girl From Mars.

Liverpool’s The Cast have enjoyed three top 10 albums including All Change in 1995, Mother Nature Calls in 1997 and Magic Hour in 1999.

The indie-rock band have also achieved ten consecutive top 10 singles including Finetime, Alright and Walkaway.

The concert will also host Dundee’s The View and Inspiral Carpets’ former frontman Tom Hingley.

Summer Sundays will also feature a silent disco and a huge festival market as well as street food, fresh cocktails and craft beers.
