Yahoo News Will Rocky and Ginger return for a Chicken Run 3?

After 23 years since the original was released Rocky and Ginger are finally back on our screens in the Chicken Run sequel Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, which is now showing on Netflix. And with the return of our favourite chickens, new characters (hi Bella Ramsey) and an idyllic new chicken island, we're really not ready to say goodbye to them again. So will they be returning for a third instalment? Here's everything we know about a potential Chicken Run 3.
Has Chicken Run 3 been confirmed on Netflix?
As of yet there's been no official word from Netflix there will be a third Chicken Run movie.
However, this doesn't mean we should give up hope of Rocky, Ginger and now, Molly, returning. Netflix often waits to see how a film or a series is received before green-lighting the next instalment.
The original Chicken Run was released in 2000, before being renewed for a sequel in 2020. Filming began for the sequel in 2021 and it was then released on 15 December 2023. While we really hope we won't have to wait another 23 years for the next movie, if a third film does go ahead, it's likely we'll have to wait a few years before its released.
Who will be in the cast of a potential Chicken Run 3?
In the original Chicken Run, main characters Rocky and Ginger are voiced by Mel Gibson and Julia Sawalha respectively. However, when the sequel was confirmed in 2020 it was announced Zachary Levi and Thandiwe Newton would be taking over the main character roles.
If a third film were to go ahead, it's likely we'd expect to see Levi and Newton return for their roles.
We'd also want to see Bella Ramsey return as Molly, Romesh Ranganathan as Nick, Daniel Mays as Fetcher, David Bradley as Fowler, Jane Horrocks as Babs, Imelda Staunton as Bunty and Lynn Ferguson as Mac.
As for Miranda Richardson as Mrs Tweedy, we've also got a feeling we haven't seen the last of her yet.
What could happen in Chicken Run 3?
Warning: spoilers ahead.
While Chicken Run 3 has not been officially confirmed we have a good idea about what a potential third film could cover.
At the end of Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget Rocky, Ginger, Molly and the rest of the gang manage to break free of the farm, defeating Mrs Tweedy and returning to the island with many more chickens in tow.
In the final scene of the movie we see Ginger, Rocky and the others head to another chicken farm where they've heard there's 30 chickens stuck in one cage, and they plan to stop it.
While we don't see what happens with this adventurous plan, we have a feeling a third movie could see the chickens attempting to free the others.
And though it seemed like Mrs Tweedy was done for good, it seems director Sam Fell is keen to bring back the iconic villain, telling Digital Spy, "She's such a classic. She'll definitely be back."
