Rod Stewart says Penny Lancaster 'wasn't the person I married' amid menopausal symptoms
Rod Stewart felt as though wife Penny Lancaster “wasn’t the person [he] married” while she grappled with menopausal symptoms.
The 76-year-old rocker and Lancaster, 50, appeared on Loose Women on Tuesday afternoon where he spoke on how he found the changes in Lancaster “frightening”.
“It was frightening because this really wasn’t the person I married. We talked about it, which I think is the most important thing a couple can do and she explained to me, through the tears as Penny likes a cry, and talked it through and that’s what couples have to do.

“Men have got to get on with it, understand and come out the other end,” Stewart said.
He also addressed how he had attempted to understand what his spouse was going through after she was diagnosed.

“I googled and googled and googled. It said, ‘Shut up and understand.’ It’s a fragile situation she was in,” he told the panellists.
Lancaster opened up about her experiences with the menopause and struggles with anxiety back in September in a tearful discussion on the programme.
In her most recent appearance, the model and TV personality explained on she was now on medication to help with the symptoms. Meanwhile, Stewart went on to say educational classes for men on the menopause were a “very good way to go”.
However, the Maggie May hitmaker didn’t have such great success when trying to relate the situation to their two sons, Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10.

“I find with the two boys, when Penny had a mood and it wasn’t quite right, I’d try and explain to them. I don’t use the word menopause, I say she’s going through a ‘hormonic’ situation in her life and just be kind to mum. It didn’t work,” he said.
