Capital's Roman Kemp returned to work today (August 10) alongside co-hosts Sian Welby and Sonny Jay, after the sudden and tragic death of their producer and close friend Joe Lyons last week.

"I never thought I'd have to do this ever," an emotional Roman told listeners. "Last Tuesday, very suddenly, we lost one of our best friends. Our producer Joe, he was a member of the Capital Breakfast family."

Roman explained that Joe was the first person he met when walking through the doors at the station, and thought he was a proper 'Del Boy' type figure.

He explained that Joe would meet every celebrity who came to the station to make them feel welcome, and he would be the one to speak to fans who called into the show.

The I'm a Celebrity star got teary as he spoke about what Joe was like as a person, saying: "He really couldn't do enough for people, he was the nicest guy I know, hands down. He loved dogs. Obsessed with his daily step count. Never ironed his clothes. He loved his family so much.

"He was a genius coming up with these ideas. He was driven by the reaction you guys had."

Sian said she loved listening to him singing along to songs on the radio but never getting the words right, while Sonny called him "the best guy".

Capital presenter Will Manning took over the rest of last Tuesday's show after Roman, Sian and Sonny left the studio, while Rob Howard and Lauren Layfield covered their show for the rest of the week.
