The When You Say Nothing At All singer has admitted he is “sorry” for the “hurt” he caused Yvonne Connolly - who he was married to from 1998 to 2015 - after cheating on her with a Boyzone backing singer.

The star - who is now married to model Storm Uechtritz - told the Daily Telegraph: “Nobody should have an affair. If you’re man enough to have the balls to go home and say, ‘Sorry, this isn’t working any more’, that’s the ideal situation, isn’t it? But we’re weak. We don’t do that.

"So yes, I hurt people and I am sorry for that hurt, but the outcome is I found Storm and I’m very grateful. But I’m saying I’m sorry.”

Ronan - who has three kids, Jack, 16, Missy, 14, and 10-year-old Ali from his marriage to Yvonne - insists he has always been “quite an insecure person”, but he feels better about himself with Storm than he has ever done before.

He added: “I’m happier than I’ve ever been. Storm makes me feel secure. It’s very refreshing. I haven’t had that before.

“I’ve always had to work to feel reassured, to feel secure, and that’s not nice because you don’t know where you stand.

"I put up a front to make people think I had all of this confidence in myself, which I didn’t.”

The singer also admitted he and his Boyzone bandmates Keith Duffy, Michael Graham and Shane Lynch still feel as though their late bandmate Stephen Gately - who died in 2009 aged 33 - is around, and the quartet are planning to do something next year for the group’s 25th anniversary.

Ronan explained: "Whether it’s shows or an album or a reflection on it, we’ll do something.”
