Caroline Wozniacki has swiftly reacted to Brooks Koepka's heartfelt Instagram post celebrating his wife, Jena Sims, amidst news of Rory McIlroy's divorce from Erica Stoll.

Brooks Koepka took to social media to express his admiration for his wife, Jena Sims, shortly after it was revealed that Rory McIlroy had filed for divorce from Erica Stoll. McIlroy, aged 35, lodged the paperwork on Monday in Florida, with confirmation emerging on Tuesday evening from his representatives.

Following this, Koepka shared a tribute to Sims on Instagram, which caught the attention of McIlroy's ex-fiancee, Caroline Wozniacki.

Koepka and Wozniacki share a friendship, evidenced by her support during last year's Masters, where she was seen alongside her spouse, former NBA star David Lee. Wozniacki and Lee, who wed in 2019, have welcomed two children since their marriage, which came five years after Wozniacki's planned wedding to McIlroy was called off.

The Koepkas celebrated becoming first-time parents last year, and Brooks' Instagram post was in honour of Sims' debut in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. His caption, "So proud of you (Jena Sims) amazing to see what hard work can do! I love you! " accompanied a stunning bikini shot of Sims, reports the Mirror.

Wozniacki quickly responded with a comment saying: "Hot mama," followed by a trio of fire emojis. The mutual support between Koepka and Sims extends to cheering on Wozniacki as she made a comeback to the WTA Tour last year after pausing her career to focus on family life.

The tennis star opened up about her split from Lee, which occurred three years after golfer Rory McIlroy called off their engagement. The pair parted ways in May 2014, shortly after wedding invitations had been sent out.

McIlroy described the breakup as mutual and amicable, but Wozniacki later revealed it was a brief phone call that ended their relationship, initiated by McIlroy, with no communication between them since.

Erica Stoll had met McIlroy over a year before he was back on the singles market, working at the 2012 Ryder Cup for the PGA of America. They started dating in 2015, following his split from Wozniacki, got engaged in Paris within months, and tied the knot in April 2017.

Three years into their marriage, they welcomed their first child, Poppy.

In the divorce proceedings, McIlroy is seeking shared custody of Poppy, with the documents stating the marriage is "irretrievably broken."

A statement from McIlroy's PR team was released on Tuesday evening, emphasizing his wish for a respectful and peaceful process during this challenging period. It stated: "Rory's desire is to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible," and confirmed he would not be commenting further.

This announcement comes just ahead of the PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy is heading into the major on a high, following consecutive victories on the PGA Tour. However, he faces stiff competition from reigning champion Brooks Koepka.

The Northern Irish golfer is aiming to match his American rival's tally of five major titles at Valhalla Golf Club - the same venue where he clinched his last victory ten years ago, coincidentally in the same month he parted ways with Caroline Wozniacki.
