Yahoo News Rose Byrne's Apple TV+ series Platonic renewed for season 2
Bridesmaids star Rose Byrne's Apple TV+ series Platonic has been renewed for a second season.
The series stars Byrne as Sylvia, a stay-at-home mother of three who reconnects with her former best friend Will (Seth Rogen) after his divorce. As the pair rekindle their friendship, it "destabilises their lives in a hilarious way".
News of the renewal came earlier this week via an announcement from Apple. Season one also starred Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Andrew Lopez and Carla Gallo alongside Byrne and Rogen, who are both executive producers as well.

In a statement, series co-creators Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco said: “We’re so thrilled to have the opportunity to tell more stories with Seth, Rose and everyone at Apple TV+ and Sony. Season Two spoiler alert: Will and Sylvia won’t get together this time either.”
Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said in his own statement: “Since the first episodes of Platonic debuted on Apple TV+, global audiences have been charmed by the hilarious, wildly fun and relatable friendship that Rose and Seth have brought to life through their charismatic performances.
“We can’t wait for viewers to see these characters encounter even more comedic mayhem in season two thanks to our partners at Sony and to the brilliant minds of Francesca and Nick.”

The comedy is the second collaboration between Byrne and Apple TV+. Byrne also appeared in dark comedy Physical, which ended its three-season run with a final batch of episodes in August this year.
Byrne played Sheila Rubin, an '80s housewife who discovers an outlet for her troubles in an unlikely place: aerobics.
Platonic is not the only Apple TV+ series that has recently been renewed. Sci-fi series Foundation received confirmation of a third season earlier this month.
