Johnathan Clowes was in stunning form with bat and ball to inspire Cheadle thirds to victory over Stone SP in NSSCL Division Five.

Clowes showcased his ability with the ball first of all as his haul of 4-39 helped to limit Stone SP thirds to 145-8 from their 40 overs.

Oliver Stokes chipped in with two wickets, with the visitors’ batting plaudits going to David Flower (37no), Mikey Parker (20), Leyton Bailey (18), Tom Holdway (17), Kai Owen (14) and Toby Flower (13).

Remarkably, Cheadle needed just 11.1 overs to secure a seven-wicket success.

Clowes was at the forefront of that quickfire chase as he smashed two fours and 10 sixes in his 31-ball unbeaten 75.

Joshua Jackson made 31 and Joe Degg weighed in with 24. Joel Davies took two of the wickets to fall.

Meir Heath seconds were in good form to win on their visit to Moddershall & Oulton fifths.

Muhammed Waseem and Simon Holloway contributed 44 and 26 respectively to guide Meir Heath to 128-7 from their allocation.

Mohammad Nadim was the pick of the Modd men’s attack, claiming 4-20.

Hosts Moddershall & Oulton couldn’t back up their bowling performance, though, as they were dismissed for 65.

Shahid Mahmood (11) and Nadim (10) made the most headway with the bat, while the impressive Fahzad Aziz (4-5) and Waseem (4-24) picked up four wickets apiece.

Leycett seconds had a fine time on the road as they won by four wickets at Stafford thirds.

Stafford made their way to 87 all out in the formative stages of the contest, in which Joshua Williams made 24 and Gokul Selvam added 18.

Martin Bryan scooped 3-7 for Leycett and there were double strikes from Abid Mahmood and Joe Tomkinson.

Mark Smallman and Selvam took a brace apiece in Leycett’s run chase, but the visitors had matters under control.

And with David Speakman’s 38 being backed up by Liam Bedson (15) and Tom Blackwood (10), they went home with the points.

Stafford did have something to celebrate in the division, however, as the seconds won at home against Whitmore 2nd XI.

Whitmore took first use and stuck 138-7 on the board from their 40 overs.

Owen Lawton top-scored with 44 not out, with Bryson Bertoni (26) and Alex Holland (25) also impressing.

Kannan Bhuvanachandran snared 3-19 for Stafford and there were two victims for Dave Cartlidge.

Stafford required 24 overs to seal a seven-wicket success. Mark Evans led the way with 49, allied to 40 from Ali Siddiqi and Kshitiz Mahajan’s 26.

Sandyford seconds prevailed in their home clash with Audlem.

Ben Turnock (46) and Philip Robins (20) were the mainstays of Sandyford’s 135-9 from their allocation.

Vijayan Rahul and Jack Allman helped themselves to 5-20 and 3-33 respectively for Audlem.

Tom Measures (37) and Irfan Shaik (20) gave Audlem hope of knocking off that target.

But from 56-2, they tumbled to 107 all out to end their ambitions.

Asachveer Singh-Kaller (4-13) was the main performer with the ball, backed up by double strikes from Tim Brennan and Kieron McKinney.

Caverswall seconds eased to the points on their trip to Porthill Park fourths.

Sam Wainwright’s 58, which contained eight fours and one six, was the principal contribution to Caverswall’s 195 all out.

Glen Moore (40), Chris Baranowski (23) and John Baker (22) were also in decent nick.

Daniel Brownsword claimed 3-67 for Porthill Park and there were two wickets apiece for Calum Bilton and Dave Nolan.

Matthew Mason (47) and Isaac Steventon (21) fronted Porthill Park’s reply.

However, it wasn’t enough as Baranowski’s 4-9, plus two wickets apiece for Ian Higgins and Josh Need, left them 115 all out.
