Royal Shakespeare Company perform with Ormiston Bushfield Academy pupils

Pupils at Ormiston Bushfield Academy were treated to a dramatic visit from members of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).

RSC actors took to the stage with 10 young thespians from the school to perform the tragedy play, Romeo and Juliet.

The Peterborough school has a close relationship with the RSC, as it is one of the lead schools in the RSC First Encounters programme.

First Encounters is a school initiative which introduces students to Shakespeare in a fun and engaging way, and opens up the community to live theatre.

Dennis Kirwan, Principal of Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy, said: "We were delighted to welcome the RSC's First Encounters production of Romeo and Juliet to Ormiston Bushfield Academy - it was a truly captivating performance, offering a fresh and engaging take for all audiences.

"It was so great to see such amazing performances from our students, who loved being on stage with such a prestigious theatre company.

"This is part of such an important programme at OBA that encourages all our students to access engaging and unique learning opportunities, alongside exploring their passion for drama and the creative arts."
